Last minute bond clean, inspection this week
Updated October 2026
Final inspection booked and the place is not ready. It happens constantly: the removalist ran late, the DIY clean took twice as long as planned, or the agent brought the date forward. If you need a last minute bond clean in the Illawarra, put the inspection date on the form and an insured local cleaner who works your suburb will call you back as fast as they can.
What is realistic at short notice
Honesty first. A full bond clean on a family house takes most of a day, and good cleaners book out, especially at the end of the month when leases roll over. At short notice the realistic options are:
- One to two days out: a full end of lease clean is usually achievable if a cleaner has a gap, and carpet steam cleaning can often run the same day, carpets last so they can dry
- The day before: often still possible for units and smaller homes, tighter for large houses, and the earlier in the day you ask, the better the odds
- The morning of the inspection: sometimes possible for a small unit, but it is a squeeze. A partial clean covering the high-risk items, the oven, bathrooms, floors and window tracks, may be the smart play
Nobody here will promise a same-day miracle on a four bedroom house, and be wary of anyone who does. What the form does is put your job in front of local cleaners quickly, so you find the one with a genuine gap instead of ringing down a list.
Make the short-notice clean work
Three practical things make a big difference when time is tight:
- Keep the power connected until after the clean. Cleaners need lighting and power points for equipment. Disconnecting utilities before the clean is one of the most common last-minute mistakes.
- Hot water helps the clean. Degreasing a kitchen and descaling bathrooms works far better with hot water on tap, so leave the gas or electricity account open until the clean is done, not just the lights.
- Get everything out first. A cleaner working around boxes cannot do skirting boards, carpets or cupboard interiors. Empty property, full clean. Half-empty property, half a clean at full price.
If the timeline genuinely does not fit
You still have moves. Ask the agent whether the inspection can shift a day or two, they generally prefer a passed inspection over a failed one and a second visit. Under NSW tenancy law you must leave the place reasonably clean, allowing for fair wear and tear, and your lease may add conditions such as carpet cleaning, so focus any remaining hours on what the agent's checklist actually covers: the oven, bathrooms, floors, window tracks and wall marks. And if the agent flags items afterwards, some cleaners offer a re-clean, so ask about this when they call. What a bond clean should cost is covered in the bond cleaning cost guide, short notice does not have to mean silly money.
The cleaners cover the whole region, including Wollongong, Figtree, Corrimal, Dapto and Shellharbour.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a bond clean tomorrow?
Often, yes, particularly for units and smaller homes, but it depends on which cleaners have gaps. Send the form with your inspection date and suburb now, the sooner it goes in, the better your chances.
Does a short-notice clean cost more?
Sometimes there is a premium for genuine same-day or after-hours work, sometimes not. You get the price on the phone before anything is booked, so there are no surprises.
Should I cancel the electricity before the clean?
No. Keep power and hot water connected until the clean is finished. Cleaners need light, power points and hot water, and a dark house with cold taps gets a worse clean.
What if the place fails inspection anyway?
The bond also covers damage and unpaid rent, so no cleaner can promise the bond back. On cleaning specifically, some cleaners offer a re-clean of items the agent flags, so ask about this when they call.
